Reactor Design
The design of the electrochemical reactor matters - which is why we designed ElectroReact! There are many factors that determine the outcome of the electrochemical synthesis, and it is the intersection of chemistry and technology that ultimately determines your reaction outcome. The figure below shows a (long) list of the things at play - but by using ElectroReact means many of these factors are automatically controlled (or controllable):
- The electrode spacing is fixed at 6mm, ensuring the gap between them is reproducible.
- A range of electrodes including an inert foil carrier can be used (or you can cut your own).
- The reactor is sealed - you can operate on a Schlenk line, or leave in lines for sampling.
- A defined geometry means that the same fill volume will give a consistent surface area of electrode.
- Mixing and temperature control is provided which can affect the mass transfer around the electrodes
ElectroReact provides this control in a flexible and easy-to-use design which supports you accurately describing your reaction conditions - see more on our page about reporting conditions.
